Katja Kovačič, a lawyer at ITEM, published in World Trademark Review (WTR) an article about the background and outcome of an invalidation action against a Slovenian national trademark, based on an earlier Community trademark (CTM). The Slovenian Supreme Court held that the mere lack of use of a CTM in Slovenia does not constitute a ground for rejecting an invalidation action against a Slovenian national trademark based on that CTM.

Katja Kovačič, a lawyer at ITEM, published in World Trademark Review (WTR) an article concerning the decision of the Slovenian IP Office (SIPO) deeming the opposition against the registration of the trademark DIPLOMAT - a Community trademark (CTM) converted into a Slovenian trademark - not to have been filed because the trademark on which the opposition was based - DIPLOMATICO, also a CTM converted into a Slovenian trademark - was not an earlier trademark within the meaning of Article 44(2)(a) of the Slovenian Industrial Property Act.

Igor Šetinc and Gregor Maček, ITEM d.o.o., published in World Trademark Review (WTR) an article concerning the decision of the Circuit Court of Ljubljana which held that products whose serial numbers and bar codes had been removed are not considered genuine, unless the alleged infringer could prove that they had legally been put on the relevant market by the holder of the trademark.

ITEM was mentioned in CEE Legal Matters (CEELM), an online publication for and about lawyers interested and working in Europe's emerging markets, for its successful challenge to SIPO's refusal of Alcatel Lucent's trademark.

Gregor Maček, Managing Partner of ITEM d.o.o., has been appointed as a Deputy of the President of Conciliation Council for resolving disputes between employers and employees in relation to inventions invented during the employment.

For the tenth consecutive year the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Commission will grant an award for the European Inventor of the Year. Entries for the European Inventor Award 2015 must be submitted by October 10, 2014. The Awards are presented in the following five categories: Industry, SMEs, Research, Lifetime achievement and Non-European Countries.

Katja Kovačič, a lawyer at ITEM, published in World Trademark Review (WTR) an article concerning the decision of the Slovenian IP Office (SIPO) granting protection to the international trademark LIGHT RADIO in Slovenia, following a decision by the Administrative Court that a significant violation of the administrative procedure provisions had occurred during the provisional refusal phase.

Recently, our company has participated in the project "Computers for socially disadvantaged" of Society "Duh časa" and donated computer equipment for families in need. Within the project 1000 computers were collected and donated.
